10.3: Requires 'modprobe saa7134-dvb' to enable DVB. 11.0: Works fine out the box. Not tested on older releases. Remote not tested under any release, but maybe can work. If remote control does not work out of the box, there is a patch to do this -check linuxtv.org mailing lists-.

After configuring, tvcard worked immediately with application "tvtime". kdetv (SuSE-10.0), mythtv and other applications worked after additional configuration steps (An unexpected kmixer setting on 10.0 caused me some hickups. 10.3 did not have those problems). YaST is using bttv driver.
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR MCE-150 - Chipset bt878 Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png I got the card installed and configured, but I could not find a good tv-program yet. Installation and configuration should be done by installing the right version of ivtv. YaST installed wrong version on my system.

11.1 Works fine with MythTV. Might have had to install IVTV driver (can't recall).

This card is similarly named to other Hauppauge cards, which may cause confusion.
Hauppauge HVR-1110 - chipset SAA7131E-TDA10046A Icon-cross.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-checked.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Works with opensuse 10.2 and lower but requires the installation of DVB/V4L and card's firmware dvb-fe-tda10046.fw in /lib/firmware. This card is sometimes sold as the older HVR-1100 which works out the box (included in yast). Sound is sent through the pci bus and with analog tv applications like kdetv/xdtv/tvtime must be piped to /dev/dsp using sox. See Hauppauge HVR-1110 TV-DVB card
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1300, hybrid Icon-cross.png Icon-cross.png Icon-cross.png Icon-cross.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png It is detected in 10.3, but the analog tuner does not work, requires a code hack in kernel sources (bugzilla #328771). Digital part works ok. Both Analog and digital tv use a lot of cpu, no overlay mode. No analog sound. Requires firmware, either from manufacturer CD (dvd/DriverA2: HcwFalcn.rom = v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw and HcwMakoC.ROM = v4l-cx25840.fw) or package ivtv-firmware from non-oss repo). See 1110 above.

Under 11.1 Works a perfectly with MythTV. Can't recall if needed to install ivtv or not. But it works fine. Unable to test digital tv input - poor reception. Hardware encoding, means low CPU use. (MythTV defaulted to software encoding, but simply selecting the IVTV mode - using hardware encoding - works). Update: Works DVB-T and Analogue. One problem is cannot switch from Analogue to DVB-T in 11.1. Latest drivers from linuxtv.org fix this.

You must install the cx18 firmware [1] copy the firmware to /lib/firmware. Hauppauge has some outdated info on their website also. Just a note i'll probably remove later, I haven't actually used the card yet in 11.1 but apps see the device and it seems to be deteced and configured correctly.

Vendor has no customer service phone number, only an email is provided. I emailed them about a week ago with a question and they still haven't responded. In contrast, the card was shipped on the next day after I purchased it.

The vendor seems to have struggled in the past but may be improving with a forum and wiki. I e-mailed them a question and a reply was received and the answer posted on their FAQ.

Vendor claims that support in the form of software and drivers are provided. These are old, and are not needed, better support is built into OpenSuSE and kaffeine as of OpenSuSE 11.1, and MythTV.

The optional cable that plugs into the card and splits into 3 separate connections is not required for NTSC (analog) sound, just use the built in sound card, Conexant CX8801.

The card seems to be able to only receive a NTSC or ATSC signal at a time, if both are attempted the result is that both may have pauses in sound and video.

Note: you still have to go through Yast and configure the card after you install it.

Bug with plugging and unplugging device causes pseudo kernel panic. Might only be in kernel with version 2.6.37.6-0.11 .

tvtime works well with the device, but kaffeine has errors with locking frequency.

Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T Stick - 70009 series (new series, old was 70001) Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png card is recognized with v4l recompiled drivers, and the firmware for the 70001 model can be used in /lib/firmware. I use kaffeine as a reader, and linuxtv.org is a valuable resource. USB 2.0 required as well. I am using a 2.6.21.3 kernel version, but do not know if that is necessary (it recompiled the kernel BEFORE I started investigating the TV issue)
Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T-USB2 (Box) http://www.hauppauge.de/pages/products/data_novatusb2.html Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png The box is autodetected initially by SuSE 11, but suitable firmware needs to be placed in /lib/firmware.

It can can be found on the internet, e.g. http://www.easy-it.co.uk/Temp/nova-t/,

The system tries to download a specific firmware name when the box is detected:

dvb-usb: found a 'Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T usb2' in cold state, will try to load a firmware dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2-02.fw'

Hint for older boxes: Older versions of the box (my box is labeled 93000 Rev B8A2 Lot 1905) need an old firmware version. Otherwise scan/tuning won't work e.g. with Kaffeine. Download fw version 01 from the website above and rename it to 'dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2-02.fw'

Hauppauge WinTV-Aero (Digital Terrestrial TV - USB2, model 1298, 55xxx series) Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png The box is autodetected initially by SuSE 11.2, but suitable firmware needs to be placed in /lib/firmware.

Googling around you can find the right firmware (/var/log/messages shows that sms1xxx-hcw-55xxx-dvbt-02.fw is needed: place it in /lib/firmware/ ),

To solve problems about channels frequencies, download "w_scan" and xine will be right ready to watch tv.

Icon-cross.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-checked.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Icon-question.png Works great in both SD and HD channels with Kaffeine and house TV antenna, the portable antenna is useless inside a house, haven't tried remote yet (light comes on only when watching a program)

To install:
1. Get v4l and dvb packages from Packman
2. Download firmware http://www.telecable.es/personales/bbbaaa/dvb-usb-af9015.fw
3. Copy/move firmware to /lib/firmware
4. Load driver by command in Shell: modprobe dvb-usb-af9015
5. Open Kaffeine, then Television -> Configure Television, the card is listed as Device 1, go there and select your region
6. Go to Television -> Channels and scan for channels. If the signal is strong you should see all available channels
