Remark

10.0:
(C) If closed at runtime, it enters into sleep mode. However waking up does not work (e.g. keyboard does not respond). It answers pings, but does not accept ssh connections.
(*) CD eject key: Icon-cross.png
(*) See Issues and iBook G3.

10.2: See iBook G3 10.2.
(C) Serious issues. For example, closing the lid while the GDM login screen is displayed, crashes the system with sig 11. See Bug-226081, Bug-226427, and Bug-222045.
Workaround: Uninstall the powersave package.

10.3: see iBook G3 10.3.
(C) Serious issues. See Bug-305154.
A new kernel from here (as of 2008-01-09) seems to fix this bug.

Remark

Be sure during installation that /boot will be on an ext2 partition. This can be done by either setting the root partition to be ext2, or by making a small (100 MB) separate ext2 partition for /boot (which allows the root partition to use something better, like ext4). Note that by default, the installer will suggest making the root partition (including /boot) ext4 format, which it appears OpenFirmware is not able to read.

Remark

10.3:
(C) Everything works (lid, battery, etc.). Suspend to ram works (even with Desktop Effects) but only if the X server started correctly on the first try at boot. If you got a "gdm was unable to start your X server, retry" text screen, suspend to ram fails due to issues in the "intel" graphics driver.
(6) Using Madwifi.
(10) Add "ath_pci" to /etc/pm/config in SUSPEND_MODULES to make wifi work after suspend to ram.
(12) IR Remote works out of the box. lirc now suppports it using the "macmini" driver.
(*) CD eject key: Icon-checked.png
(*) iSight: Icon-checked.png
(*) Backlight: Icon-checked.png
(*) Sensors works out of the box, However, new kernel has an improved applesmc driver for non-Pro Macbooks.
(*) Bootloader: GRUB or LILO can be installed only AFTER the installation as the MBR partition table gets "cleared" during setup. refit's gptsync tool then booting into the installed system helped.

11.0:
(4) With the latest ALSA drivers.

(10) Out-of-the-box
(11) Out-of-the-box
(*) CD eject key: Icon-checked.png install package pommed
(*) iSight: Icon-checked.png requires Apple firmware extracted with iSight Firmware Tools
(*) Backlight Fn-F1 / Fn-F2: Icon-checked.png Out-of-the-box
(*) Volume Fn-F3 / Fn-F4 / Fn-F5: Icon-checked.png Out-of-the-box
(*) Bootloader: rEFIt required, GRUB2 works after that. OS X is not needed for rEFIt installation if boot CD is used.

12.3:
(6) Automatic detection failed during installation, manually adding wireless interface (without specifying a driver) added ath5k succesfully

13.1:
All things except iSight work out-of-the-box, even apple keys work without any extra work. The installer detects Apple MacBook correctly and does proper settings for GRUB2 to work.
(3) There is no TV-out, but the Apple video-out -port works fully (with different adapters).
(*) iSight: Icon-checked.png requires Apple firmware extracted with iSight Firmware Tools

Remark

11.1:
(*) Keyboard, TouchPad, iSight not properly works.
(*) Used reFIT for partitioning and keeping the MacOS.
11.2:
(*) Macbook pro mid 2009. Follow this How To.
11.4:
(*) Macbook pro mid 2009. Follow this How To.
12.2:
(*) WiFi required a manual install of the broadcom driver, since the default setup (legacy driver) showed a horrible performance and range.
(*) PommeD had to be installed manually to get hardware key reactions.
12.3:
(*) Everything worked out-of-the-box: impressive
42.3:
(*) Tested features worked out-of-the-box or almost. The Broadcom BCM4322 wireless NIC requires non-free firmware (available from repositories) or the broadcom-wl-kmp-default and broadcom-wl packages for improved performance. Proprietary nVidia drivers (G03 driver line) can be installed for improved graphics performance as well. Keyboard backlight and keyboard function keys (except the CD eject) work out-of-the-box. Very impressive!
