Introduction and Biography

Hi, I'm Stasiek. I have been contributing to the openSUSE Project since 2017.

Contributions

Artwork

I started my journey with openSUSE here, I complained the current Leap 15 and Tumbleweed branding into existence, and rebooted our general branding mission, by updating the relevant documentation. I have been pushing for updates to the existing branding guidelines, with changes in logos and associated artwork.

Heroes

I maintain some of our infrastructure as part of openSUSE:Heroes team, which includes all of our Jekyll-based websites, the Matrix server and associated services, and the future Mailman 3 based lists infra.

Web

I rebooted the following websites News, Planet, Kernel, Get, AppStream, Search, Download, Debug Info, Monitor, 101 and Shop

Major Issues

The topic on everyone's mind seems to be the board structure. I did have a solid look at structures of similar entities in other projects, and have built up a general opinion on how to improve and subsequently replace the existing board structure. How the board will actually end up looking will depend on the many discussions we will have to have to actually land on something solid.

Minor Issues

We have major issues with developer and user onboarding, which we have to fix to retain the high technical level of the project-made software and the distributions. This involves improving ways to contribute, documentation and marketing about the contributions etc.

Role of the board

One of my long time criticisms about the board in general was how little it turns up with any actually technical and trademark-relevant discussions. We might want to have a solid look at Fedora Council, with the structure focused on further project organization and teams hierarchy. This requires throughout discussion with a lot of teams at SUSE, since it affects them in the same way it will affect us. I would be happy to drive those discussions.

Why you should vote for me?

I have been getting things done for years, and I am not planning to stop doing that

Aims/Goals

New board structure and more developer engagement

Endorsements

I'm glad you finally stepped up, Stasiek.
