Portal:Patterns
Welcome to the Patterns portal! Edit
in openSUSE we use what we call patterns to group software and make it easily installable with a single keyword rather than selecting multiple individual packages
This makes things like development toolkit and desktop environments alot easier to install after the initial set up and software packages are put into 3 different tiers when you select a package via YaST, using transactional-update or zypper:
- Required (must-have)
- Recommended (should-have)
- Suggested (can-have)
