This page is supposed to provide guidance for any Grant oriented requests and questions that are being considered for openSUSE project community members.

There is a grant that might be interesting to the openSUSE community! What next?

This is the entire reason why this page exists. We would like to collect information about grants that could be interesting to openSUSE community members in a single place. Please get yourself familiar with openSUSE values and Code of Conduct and consider adding it to the table bellow.

Can the openSUSE project apply for a grant?

The openSUSE project can not receive any funds from the grant. Individual community members however can either individually or as part of a formed group apply for a grant. openSUSE project will not be able to receive any funds from the effort, but we can provide you support and mentorship on the way. The individual or group should ensure that they're not misusing the brand.

Can openSUSE act as a sponsor of a grant?

Yes. This would be a question concerning usage of brand, budget and alignment with openSUSE values and Code of Conduct.

If you have an idea a good first step would be to add a proposal to the agenda for the upcoming weekly meeting and see how people like the idea. The next step would be to submit the grant idea for an upcoming biweekly openSUSE Board meeting.

List of active grants that openSUSE community members can apply for

This is an effort to maintain a single place listing all the grant options that community members & friends can apply for.

Please only add an item to the list in case it is aligned with openSUSE values and Code of Conduct.
