Computer Operating System Main Interface Components or COSMIC for short is an up and coming Desktop Environment being developed by System76. COSMIC is notable for being entirely written in the Rust Programming Language.

One of the big features offered by COSMIC is being able to have both a Dynamic Tiling Window mode akin to Window Managers as well as a traditional floating window mode like those of Desktop Environments.

System76 created COSMIC as a substitution for GNOME on their Linux Distribution and has been made available to openSUSE users by the COSMIC Team!

Currently COSMIC is available for Leap 15.6, Slowroll and Tumbleweed via the Open Build Service

Open Build Service Packages can be viewed here

Please Note! COSMIC is still in alpha and while some users have had a workable experience using it, it is not recommended to rely on COSMIC until its development is further along
