About

A year in the community grew and grew. Held its first public shares to promote openSUSE.

Main activities

Then I said if someone else took all the initiative, I wanted to give a helping hand - so I wrote the first article referring to a way to configure a connection on openSUSE RDS (one of the romanian biggest Internet providers is RDS)

Slowly, I started to write more articles and be one of openSUSE forum moderators.

I first met the person who created the site at the openSUSE 11.2 launch party even if I lived in the same town and were relatively close to each other.

The late 2009 has been full of events that promote openSUSE in Romania:

  • November 12, 2009 - I organized a "friendly" meeting to a pizzeria between community members and beyond. Thus, I had the opportunity to see each other "face to face" and not just "online." Each has learned something about each, so you came to know more than a "nickname" Photo
  • November 14, 2009 - I conducted the first presentation on openSUSE 11.2 to over 40 participants at the "Firefox 5 years in Romania" party. It was the first time that we talk about the openSUSE Romanian's community Photo Video
  • December 10, 2009 - I presented the new openSUSE distribution at RLUG meeting in which the auditor was composed of people who knew what a is Linux distribution. Public questions had a higher difficulty level Photo Video
  • December 12, 2009 - Presentation held at BLUGOSCON openSUSE. In addition to openSUSE presentation was ones about Fedora, Ubuntu vs. Debian, Mandriva, Arch Linux Photo Video

OpenSUSE translation into Romanian

Since autumn 2008, together with strainu, coordinate the work of translation into Romanian of the openSUSE distribution. So we did it to be translated into 85% in version 11.2. I hope that version 11.3 will be fully translated into Romanian.
