Configure Postfix to send email with xoauth2 HOWTO

Jump to: navigation, search

Since May 30, 2022, GMail only accepts email messages with from-addresses ...@gmail.com which are send using the xoauth2 authorization method. Also other services may require this authorization method. This wiki page describes how to configure Postfix to be able to send email message with these from-addresses.

When needed

In many cases an email client already is capable to send your email as gmail.com user. An example is KMail in the KDE desktop. However you may have processes running in your system that need to send these types of emails. In such a case you need to configure your MTA, in this case Postfix, to send these messages using the XOAUTH2.
