SuSE Linux 7.2 was released on Friday, June 15, 2001. It was the first release of SuSE Linux to have used the 2.4 release of the Linux kernel. SuSE Linux 7.2 was preceeded by SuSE Linux 7.1 and succeeded by SuSE Linux 7.3. It reached its End of Lifetime on October 1, 2003. The SuSE Linux 7.2 distribution is still available for FTP installs, but the Live Evaluation CDs have been removed from the FTP server to conserve space. For a live CD edition, DemoLinux 3 is a comparable Live distribution from about the same time.

Some packages included with SuSE Linux 7.2 were:

  • KDE 2.1.2
  • GNOME 1.4
  • Linux kernel 2.4.4 or 2.2.19
