SuSE Linux 7.3 was released on Saturday, October 23, 2001. It was the last release to include KDE 2 (although on April Fools Day 2009 the KDE team produced a KDE 2 Live CD based on openSUSE 11.1). It was succeeded by SuSE Linux 8.0 on April 22, 2002 and preceeded by SuSE Linux 7.2. It reached its End of Lifetime on December 15, 2003. The SuSE 7.3 Live Evaluation download tree was deleted to save space, however a FTP install is still possible as the FTP packages are still online. Some new features in this release were the ability to modify the partition table while the system was active, scanner configuration, and support for ext3 and jfs. SuSE Linux 7.3 was the last version of the distribution to include YaST 1.

Some packages included with SuSE Linux 7.3 were:

  • KDE 2.2.1
  • Linux kernel 2.4.10
  • Netscape Navigator 6.1
  • GNOME 1.4.1 beta2
