SuSE Linux 8.0 was released on Monday, April 22, 2002. It was the last release to include StarOffice and the first to include OpenOffice.org. It also was the first to include KDE3, which was included with the distribution through openSUSE 11.1 almost for 7 years. SuSE Linux 8.0 was preceeded by SuSE Linux 7.3 and on September 30, 2002 succeeded by SuSE Linux 8.1. SuSE Linux 8.0 reahed its End of Lifetime on June 30, 2004. It is still available as both a Lve Evaluation CD and an FTP install.

Some packages included with SuSE Linux 8.0 were:

  • KDE 3.0.0
  • Linux Kernel 2.4.18
  • OpenOffice.org 641c, a prerelease.
