List of potential priorities for Marketing Team in 2010.

In the Marketing Team meeting on 09-March-2010, we decided to list our priorities for the upcoming year. Please feel free to add to the list below and we will determine priority number for each item in the next meeting.

  • Upcoming openSUSE 11.3 Distribution Release
    • Release Date: 15th July 2010
    • Artwork
      • DVD/CD Cover Artwork
    • Develop Talking Points about 11.3
    • Create strategy for online marketing (i.e., blogging, tweeting, etc.) (this topic is IMO independent of openSUSE 11.3 but needs to be in place for it)
    • Coordinate Launch Events
  • Upcoming openSUSE Build Service 2.0 Release
    • Planned Release Date: 10th June 2010
  • Materials
    • Create clear central repository for people to find materials
      • Create and post slide presentations
      • Create Talking Points
      • Create Artwork for use in Presentations
    • Create "Event Kit" with list and links of relevant materials to download for exhibit booths.
    • Discuss ideas for new/fresh material for marketing openSUSE
  • openSUSE Marketing General
    • creation of announcements
    • organization of events
      • Note we need to document how and what we announce
    • "people of openSUSE" interviews
  • Team Structuring
    • Determine what individual Team members are interested in contributing to
    • Associate team members with tasks
    • Identify areas that need strengthening
    • Develop communication strategy for Team
      • Need to make sure our team is not restricted to just IRC/ML participation
      • Should we use retrosprectiva to organize larger topics?
  • Planning and Outreach
    • Create calendar of events internally and externally
      • Assign point-of-contact/Ambassador to each event
    • Develop media contact list
    • Develop relationships with each openSUSE Team to assist them on reporting/writing news about their activities.
    • Look to other projects for potential collaboration on events and actions.
    • Increase the existence/knowledge of openSUSE in universities
