Version 13.2 no KDE function

Have downloaded the 13.2 Version using kb3, burned an iso disk, installed over 12.2 on a Compaq Presario C700, no indications of error, disk check seemed ok on both kb3 and through the Linux 13.2 media check function. BUT - reboots, and then kicks into grub. No KDE or Gnome workspace can be loaded up automatically.

Anyone know anything about this? Can not go back to 12.2 because the disk cracked. Loaded 11.3 back on so that I could use email. But most of my existing files are gone and Firefox is very old version, not functioning well. If I can go in as root or on grub to set up the links (not sure what links I need to setup) I would be happy to do it.
