Value Creation
What problems solves a distro? What value is created?
A distro is delivering a (more or less) easy way to install and update software (incl. the operating system).
In particular this is:
- Selection of software.
- Making the software work together.
- Adding own programs.
- Improve (adding patches to) other programs.
- Providing support
What are the members of a distro doing to achieve that?
They are
- compiling code
- testing code
- work on own code (implementing new features, bug fixing, ...)
- work in upstream projects (implementing new features, bug fixing, ...)
- packaging
- support (Who: other openSUSE developers, downstream delevopers, users; Where: Forum, IRC, mailing lists, ...)
How many resources is openSUSE investing in what activity?
