About Me

I am a DevOps Engineer with a background in infrastructure-as-code and system orchestration. Having previously explored the Fedora ecosystem and participated in the NixOS community (focusing on system configuration via Flakes and support in the NixOS Discourse), I am now dedicated to contributing to openSUSE.

My goal is to leverage my DevOps experience to support the distribution, starting with localization and learning the intricacies of SUSE-standard packaging.

Current Involvement

  1. Localization: Active contributor to the Spanish translation portal (Weblate) for Leap 16.0.
  2. Packaging Learning Curve: Learning openSUSE packaging standards by porting and maintaining third-party GNOME/Nautilus extensions.

Contributions

Packaging & Systems

  • [nautilus-extension-open-any-terminal]: A third-party extension I am using to learn and implement openSUSE build standards.
    • Ported and validated for Leap 16.0 (SLFO).
    • Focused on mastering build macros: `fdupes` optimization, schema handling, and Python dependency resolution.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience in managing complex system states using Nix Flakes.
  • Community Engagement: Technical support and documentation in the NixOS Discourse.

Future Goals & Interests

  • Infrastructure Support: My long-term goal is to assist in the maintenance and optimization of the openSUSE Infrastructure. I am interested in contributing to the automation and CI/CD pipelines that power the project.
  • Continuous Learning: Deepening my knowledge of the Open Build Service (OBS) and factory development workflows.

Technical Skills

  • DevOps: CI/CD Pipelines, Automation, Infrastructure as Code.
  • Systems: RPM (Specfiles - Learning), Nix Flakes, Shell Scripting.
  • Environments: Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky Linux, Fedora, Gentoo, FreeBSD, NixOS.
