Note: that opencobol then works fine from any directory on system.

I could copy the animator program that compiled with -x to a path directory like the cobc and it works, but copying the animate.so and animdata.so files to a path directory or /usr/local/lib results in not found message.

P.S. you have lical in first code example instead of local.
