About Me
Hello, my name is John McKinney. I'm an IT professional from the US and I live near Houston, Texas. I've been a Linux user for over 25 years and I have been working in IT for just as long. I started using SUSE Linux around 2001 (7.2) and openSUSE around 2006. I have used several distributions over the years however I've come to realize how much more complete openSUSE is compared to many others. I'm not much of a developer (and yes I've tried my best) but I'm still working on it. I'm more of a fixer and support minded than anything else. I will do my best to solve an issue or find something or someone who can. For hobbies, I enjoy travelling, reading, listening to music and podcasts. I also enjoy hacking around on electronics and learning about new technologies. I was drawn to openSUSE Tumbleweed since it is stable, tested and up to date. The community has been great overall as well.
