Brand Guidelines
The Aeon Marks
These Guidelines cover the Aeon marks in word or logo form.
This set of marks are collectively referred to as the "Aeon Marks"
Sources
The sources of official Aeon logos are kept on GitHub
Colours
The official Aeon brand colour is #009b77
The Aeon logos should only ever be coloured Black, White, or the Aeon Brand colour.
Different Shades or Tints of #009b77 can be used when it improves legibility or clarity of text or UI elements.
For example colours #00a489 and #4cb99f are used to compliment the Aeon brand colour on https://aeondesktop.org
The Aeon brand colour should be paired primarily with Black, White, or Dark Grey (eg. #383838 or similar).
The Dark Grey is to reflect Aeon's use of GNOME's Dark Mode by default.
Word Marks
Aeon should be referred to in text using one of the following two forms:
- Aeon
- Aeon Desktop
"Aeon Desktop" is recommended for use when addressing audiences who are less likely to already know about Aeon.
"Aeon" is recommended for use when addressing audiences who are more likely to already know about Aeon, such as Aeon users.
Aeon should not be used with any other prefix or suffix, such as:
- "Aeon Linux" - The Linux kernel is traditionally a multi-role kernel used by Servers, Desktops, and other devices. This can cause confusion as Aeon is focused on being a Desktop Operating System.
- "openSUSE Aeon" - Aeon should NOT be referred to as "openSUSE Aeon" out of respect for SUSE's request to reduce the dilution of the SUSE Brand.
General Guidelines for Using the Aeon Marks
The use of the Aeon Marks generally follows the openSUSE Trademark Guidelines, just replacing the terms "openSUSE", "the openSUSE Marks", and "opensuse.org" with "Aeon", "the Aeon Marks", and "aeondesktop.org" respectively.
However, the following additions/alterations apply specifically for the Aeon Marks
Derivatives/Variants of Aeon
Derivatives or Variants of Aeon are considered to be equivalent to "Distributing Aeon with Modifications".
They must not use the Aeon Marks, Logos, or Colours.
That includes not using the term "Aeon" in the name of the Derivative or Variant.
They may combine their own name/trademark with one of the following Aeon Mark tag-lines (or equivalent):
- "Inspired by Aeon"
- "Derived from Aeon"
- "Based on Aeon"
