How To Try openSUSE Without Making Any Changes To Your PC

You may try openSUSE without making any changes to your PC. What you need for doing so:

  1. Get an USB Stick, preferably USB 3.0. Data existing on the stick will be deleted. Make sure you have a backup.
  2. Download Stable Live to your computer.
  3. Burn the downloaded file to USB Stick: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-burn-an-iso-file-to-a-usb-drive-2619270
  4. Boot your computer from the USB Stick: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-boot-from-a-usb-device-2626091

The computer will open a desktop ready to use.

A linux savvy friend may help to create the bootable USB stick by running the following command on his machine (substitute your path to the iso-file and your device): 

dd if=/home/karl/Downloads/openSUSE-Leap-15.1-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot9.118-Media.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M ; sync
