SuSE Linux 6.0 was released Monday, December 21, 1998. It is the last release to use the 2.0 kernel. It was preceded by S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3 and succeeded by SuSE Linux 6.1 on April 7, 1999. The acronym S.u.S.E. was dropped, with the new name just being SuSE. This is the first release SaX was included and to have glibc2 support.

Some packages included with SuSE Linux 6.0 were:

  • KDE 1.0 with Qt 1.42
  • Linux kernel 2.0.36
  • Star Office 5.0
  • XFree86 3.3.3
