Template:Delete:Installing icon themes
Icon themes customise the appearance of your desktop environment. An icon theme will change the appearance of your toolbars, your folders and your filetype pictures. Installing icons in KDE and GNOME is slightly different. Also certain themes will work well in GNOME and not in KDE, and some will work well in KDE and not in GNOME. The FreeDesktop.org has an 'Icon Naming Specification' which will hopefully solve this problem, but at the moment not many icon themes are taking advantage of this.
