At a previous board meeting we discussed the use of AI tools to develop openSUSE. To avoid conflicts we decided to wait on SUSE to publish its corporate policy. That policy has now been updated.
Fair warning (Jeff): Internal discussions are ongoing to open up more tools for use, but the policy now allows Gemini, Qwen 2.5 (3.0 coming), and GitHub Copilot. MCP is allowed for development, but not for use in production deployments without prior approval.
For reference, Fedora's recently approved AI Policy:
Private board ticket was sent, asking for guidance on posting of personal donation links (patreon, buymeacoffee, gofundme, etc) on the openSUSE Wiki .
Based on discussion, this is acceptable on personal user pages of an openSUSE member, not acceptable on project pages and anything that looks like an official resource. (Voted 5:0)
AI Shawn: Specific communication to follow on the project@ list.
