lkocman: Dirk suggested to make sure it's not in conflict with SUSE guidelines.
Original request was aiming at artwork generation based on negative feedback from Reddit. But it really should to be extended to articles, docs, code contributions as well.
For docs/artwork the biggest concern was to not lose some sort of personality touch via usage of generic, easy to recognize AI graphics or AI-monotone text.
github.com/openSUSE, src-o-o, code-o-o, gitlab of heroes is where we have a bit more control and can do recommendations for new projects. External projects are a different story.
Conclusion: Wait for SUSE AI policy which is work in progress.
Update after the meeting
Lubos reached out to people doing artwork requests and there is agreement to revisit existing yet abandoned https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Artwork on one of the Thursday meetings.
Gerald: thank y'all! :-)
Potential Hardware Donation
Patrick shared the following:
"The following equipment has been removed from part of [my company's] cloud infra due to a customer leaving.
It is now in storage in Zurich, Switzerland.
1 x IBM v3700 V1 Storage array - SAS interface, 48 disks, mixture of SSD and SAS (largest drive is 1.8tb)
1 x IBM v5000 V2 Storage array - fibre interface, 24 disks, mixture of SSD and SAS (largest drive is 1.8tb)
3 x IBM x3550 M3 (1u) (used for NFS/backup)
2 x IBM x3350 M4 (1u) (used for NFS/backup)
4 x IBM x3550 M5 (1u) - most with 1tb+ RAM, (used for VM hosting) (2 with possible dual CPU)
2 x IBM x3560 M5 (2u) - up to 1tb ram each (used for VM hosting)
1 x IBM TS3200 tape autoloader, with 3 x LTO 5 drives (SAS interfaces from memory)
up to 6 x Juniper SRX240 routers
2 x Juniper EX3300 48x1gb Switches (with 10gb uplink SFP)
2 x Juniper EX2500 48x1gb Switches (with 10gb uplink SFP)
Most routers, switches and servers come with rackmount rails.
Most servers come with multiple NICs.
All servers equipped with licensed RSA2 adapters (offline remote access).
Cables! LOTS of cables.
We are deciding what to do with this equipment, given that it is mostly quite old, but still functional.
Perhaps the Heroes might be interested? Or alternatively the Geeko foundation could also host a limited) build service? My understanding is that Hetzner racks are quite cheap (in comparison to Equinix which is 5 nines)
Obviously moving it into Germany would require a van for a day or two if you wanted to do it on the cheap.
Thoughts and ideas are welcome."
SUSE has no need/good use for this equipment and cannot host it for openSUSE (Gerald, Jeff).
Refresh on topics discussed at the in-person meeting
Jeff needs to follow up on governance draft.
Jeff will initiate process to remove OPI from OBS.
