AppStream

AppStream is a FreeDesktop.org standard for universal packaging information. Any packages, no matter RPM, DEB or flatpak, can use the same file shipped in the source code to get package name, summary, description and screenshots. It is mainly used by various "app stores", like GNOME Software and KDE Discover.
