About

KDE Kontact is a complete Personal Information Management (PIM) suite, which includes a variety of KDE components. These components include:

  • The Summary Component - A specially designed component for Kontact, the Summary Component gives various quick notes about other components on a single summary page, as well as getting information from various sources on the internet, such as weather and news. Any RDF feed can be added to this component.
  • The Mail Component - KMail, a full-featured mail client.
  • The Calendar Component - KOrganizer, a mature personal calendaring application with integrated groupware capabilities.
  • The Contacts Component - KAddressbook, manages all of your contacts. Integrated with KMail and KOrganizer prior to Kontact's inception.
  • The Notes component - KNotes, an infinite block of digital sticky notes.
  • The News Component - KNode, KDE's news reader.
  • The Sync Component - KitchenSync, KDE's universal syncing application. This has been completely rewritten to use the OpenSync framework for openSUSE 10.2, which gives more features, but has not yet been integrated into Kontact. The kitchensync application continues to run standalone.
