The YaST Patch CD Update module is an appendage of the YaST Online Update module. YaST Patch CD Update runs YaST Online Update with new installation repository, by default expected to be present on CD or DVD (URL is cd:///). If you have a patch cd that you are using to update your installation, just call /sbin/yast2 online_update cd_update or call YaST Patch CD Update from the Control Center.
From openSUSE 11.0, Patch CD module doesn't require the Patch CD to be located on real CD/DVD, and it is possible to supply the module with the alternative repository URL instead. Do it by calling:
yast2 online_update cd_update cd_url=[custom_patchcd_repository_url]
on the command line.
