- for KDE desktop this means : no detection and automounting of removable devices, the battery widget is non-functional etc. It also means for KDE users that they can not make a workable LiveUSB from the .iso file by the usual "dd" technique. workaround: sudo zypper in hal ; sudo /sbin/insserv haldaemon

GENERAL

• The x86_64 NET Install CD had a garbled screen for an NVidia GeForce Go 7150M graphics adapter (Bug #610352

). The workaround is to add "brokenmodules=nouveau" to the Boot Options line.

• Accessing LVM partitions is not possible - Bug #598193

"udev deletes device nodes".

• Laptop Formfactor is not recognized by the hwinfo and some laptop defaults are not installed: (a) network setting defaults to ifup/ifdown instead of NetworkManager and (b) kernel-firmware is not installed thus wlan adapters are not working out of the box. Bug #591703

GNOME

• Firefox crashes at start Bug #608087

- workaround: update gtk2 to the new version from the GNOME factory repo

KDE

• Firefox and Thunderbird have same Bug #608087

General

• NET/DVD 32bit install stops at openoffice_org-calc-extensions Bug #600502

- workaround: disable installation of this package

• YaST2 lan module does not run. Bug #600576

- workarounds: Install yast2-network-2.19.25 as mentioned in Comment #10 of bug report, or edit /etc/sysconfig/network/config and enable NetworkManager

• nouveau video driver for Nvidia hardware has some issues detecting monitors via DDC. Bug #596740

- workaround: use nomodeset and configure monitor manually.

• A number of issues have been encountered using KMS with Intel/nouveau/radeon drivers and specific hardware configurations. Workaround: use nomodeset boot flag to disable KMS.

GNOME

• gconf2-branding-openSUSE isn't installed by default, which causes no default settings (e.g. Sonar theme isn't used by default, two panels instead one-panel arrangement, etc...). Workaround: install gconf2-branding-openSUSE package.

KDE

• System Monitor crashes when killing a process Bug #597156

• sysinfo:/ ("My Computer") displays "The requested operation could not be completed - Unexpected Program Termination" in Konqueror Bug #600902
