Hi

Update 2009-02: I'm not working for SUSE anymore, so everything below is more or less obsolete ... see also my last posting.

My name is Martin Lasarsch, working for SuSE since 2000. Had a long way, from supporter to sysadmin for 5 years, after that i had quite a change: sales :-) After a short time i switched to the development team (core services) where i'm now since a year.

One of my jobs, which lead me to sales, was attending exhibitions, make presentations etc.. The chance is high to see me, at least in germany, when you see a Novell/SUSE booth somewhere.

I worked on the openSUSE project from the beginning, doing mostley wiki stuff and now i'm the openSUSE evangelist.

What's this? Good question!

  • keep track of the development of openSUSE
this is useless when not communicated with the community, thanks to aj who make such a great job on this topic! Unfortunately all tries of cloning him failed so far and he can't be everywhere ... :-)
  • communicate with the community
we want to talk with you!
  • Wiki, Wiki, Wiki
technical side with darx and content when i have time.
  • promoting openSUSE

feel free to drop me a line if you have question:

  • Mail: mlasars@suse.de
  • IRC: (not)localhorst on freenode, #suse and #opensuse
  • WWW: hitme.resetbutton.de

have a lot of fun ...

just for testing ....

xmacro

xmacro is a small tool which allows you to record and replay keystrokes and mouse events. This is quite usefull for a demopoint, for example if you want to show compiz features. You can find it at http://xmacro.sourceforge.net/, binary packages are in the buildservice [LINK].

You can record all event with

xmacrorec2 > outputfile

The output is a textfile, easy to modify. You don't have to use the record tool, you can also just edit the textfile if you know the syntax.

Here is an example to show some compiz features. It is depended on the screensize, used resolution is 1680x1050. It works best if you have at least one fullscreen window on workspace 1, where you start the script for example, and some open windows on workspace 3.
