-I originally come from a german speaking part of North Italy close to the Austrian/Suisse border, called South Tyrol. I left my small mountain village to go to Innsbruck and Berlin to study Philosophy of Logic. I received my MA in Philosophy in 1995 in Berlin. After that I worked as graphic artist/webdesigner/sysadmin for a small TV station. In 1997 I immigrated to New Zealand, my new home and a wonderful country. I met my wife here and the rest is history so they say. Now we have 3 kids, 2 cats and a rabbit and live close to a beach in Auckland. -Professionally I worked in the ISP arena for years and even was forced to be in the team of people looking after the server that ran microsoft.co.nz, when there still was something like a country specific MS website. I did not work for MS though, just for their ISP.
-
-In 2002 I decided to concentrate on Linux completely and leave the ISP industry behind. Since then I started Yoper (really just a project to learn how distro's work, never expected it to be used by anyone apart from me and my wife) and worked for IBM in their Linux Centre.

-I have joined Novell at the beginning of this year and am thoroughly enjoying being part of the overall team that produces such fantastic Linux based products. I have so much to learn and I enjoy doing that. I have used various Linux distro's apart from my own since 1994. I started like many others with Slackware and SUSE as I was living in Germany. I spent many years professionally with RedHat (I do still hold a valid RHCE) established the first New Zealand RedHat mirror in 1998 and am now with SUSE again. I probably tried over one hundred different distro's and SUSE is IMHO #1.

-In my spare time I enjoy my family and playing online chess. If you want to play against me, join http://www.letsplaychess.com/chessclubs/asplogin.asp and send me an email and I will invite you for a free game. My nickname is "geekman".
