Features
openSUSE's Security Features help to prevent bugs from being exploitable.
Updates
Security updates for openSUSE are provides for two years starting from the release date. See SUSE Linux Lifetime for details.
Security announcements are sent to the opensuse-security-announce mailinglist. An archive is also available. There is also a RSS feed that you can subscribe to.
Updates are freely available on our Update Mirrors. A helper program of YaST Online Update automatically notifies the user about new updates and allows to install then with a few mouse clicks.
Team
Security of the openSUSE distributions is being worked on by the Security Team within SUSE.
