Portal:Hardware
tagline: From openSUSE
Welcome to the Hardware Portal edit
Hardware support provides challenges to any distribution of Linux. The following pages are used by the openSUSE community to record the compatibility of various hardware and full systems with SUSE Linux. Please share your experience by adding your hardware, especially if you had some issue that you overcame.
If a link to some device is red, that means we have no information about it yet. Please help by contributing what you have learned, or experienced about it.
How to add hardware information to the list?
The easiest way would be to use Smolt that will automatically pick up hardware information, except that it has been abandoned: [1] . It asks you for permission to post it on Smolt server, and when you say yes your hardware info will be posted. You will get password that is used to edit your just created page and mark hardware as working, not working, working after some tweaking, crashing system etc.
When you are done, you can post link to http://www.smolts.org with your harware profile to appropriate section of Hardware Compatibility List. They are listed below. If you are not sure how to include link, as there is a some table without place for link, post it just below the table with short comment.
Comments or improvement ideas
We are discussing how to improve Hardware Compatibility List as current table layout is not really the best option. If you have ideas please post your comment in http://forums.opensuse.org/english/other-forums/community-fun/opensuse-wiki-discussions/ .
