Flickr (http://www.flickr.com) is a way to store, sort, search, and share your photos online. Besides the Web interface, you can use several open source tools to work with Flickr. Find some of them in the Build Service and more in a "quickonlinetips" list.

General

Flickr Uploadr

With Flickr Uploadr you can drag in photos from your computer, add titles, tags and other metadata and upload them all to Flickr.

Uploading works fine. One time it got confused and truncated the set title and duplicated description texts (2008-08-27, flickr-uploadr-3.0.5-17.1); thus far I could not reproduce this misbehavior.

flickrfs

flickrfs is a FUSE (Filesystem in USErland) depending on python-fuse.

ATM, it suffers from a threads related bug in python-fuse 0.2.

jUploadr

Find it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/juploadr/develop. A Java expert is needed for packaging.

KDE

Stand-alone Flickr Uploader for KDE.

digikam / gwenview / kipi-plugins

The KIPI Plugins used by digikam and gwenview allow FlickR upload and work fine. They are shipped with the distribution. The KDE4 version had the limitation to upload only to existing sets which is hopefully fixed in KDE 4.3.

GNOME

dfo

dfo is the Desktop Flickr Organizer for Gnome. Implemented in Mono.

postr

Postr is an upload tool, with tight integration into the GNOME desktop.

F-Spot

F-Spot is a full-featured personal photo management application for GNOME, implemented in Mono. It offers uploading to Flickr. It supports tags and descriptions (f-spot calls them comments), but lacks support for titles; for more information, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=589082
