Local Security lets local password security policies be managed. There are 4 options:

• Home Workstation
• Networked Workstation
• Network Server
• Custom Settings

Each of these options, except custom settings, have pre-defined password security options. Each of these options, except for Custom Settings may be individually adjusting by selecting the security type and clicking on Details.

The Password Settings displayed shows:

• Checks
  • Checkbox for Check New Passwords
  • Checkbox for Test for Complicated PAsswords
• Password Encryption Method (Drop-down menu)
  • DES
  • wikipedia:MD5
  • wikipedia:Blowfish_(cipher)
• Minimum Accepted Password Length
• Minimum to Maximum allows Password Age
• Days before Password Expires Warning

Custom Settings is defined by your user policy as configured in User and Group Management.
