Xfce Team

From openSUSE

The openSUSE Xfce Team works on the integration of the Xfce desktop environment. The aim is to establish XFce as desktop environment besides GNOME and KDE.

The Project is devided into several sections:

  • Building XFce packages for openSUSE
  • Create, publish and promote installable XFce LiveCDs
  • Provide openSUSE branded artwork like wallpapers, icon sets, themes and styles.

Live CD Project

There should be an installable Xfce Live-CD available with an modified version of the yast-live installer. At the moment we are already able to create a Xfce Live-CD using the KIWI suite but the yast-live installation fails.

Artwork & Design

The artwork and design team is going to improve the look & feel of Xfce on openSUSE. The official Xfce icon set (Rodent), window decoration and themes are not very impressive and usable. Therfor we have decided to port the 'Oxygen Window Decoration' from KDE4 to provide a unique look & feel. As GTK pixmap theme we decided to use a modified version of Candido Graphite Light. The icon set is provided by Miguel and is called CrashBit. There still has some work to be done to integrate these components well in Xfce.
