VirtualBox is a virtualization software package developed by Sun Microsystems (it was originally created by the German company innotek GmbH) for 32-bit guest operating systems. VirtualBox can be used on 32-bit or 64-bit Intel and AMD CPUs. It comes in two versions:

Open source edition named VirtualBox OSE
Closed source edition, distributed as a binary file

There are some important differences between VirtualBox OSE and the closed source binary distribution of VirtualBox.
