Quote: Check Google for 'define:piratical', or http://www.wordsmyth.net/ . I would say that your own page is about 'practical' programming, not about programming theory, so piratical seems somewhat misleading in a wrong way.

I just wanted to say that I don't understand why do you use word piratical instead of practical. There is nothing that remotely resembles to Pirates of Caribbean, but, as you say, it is a collection of practical programming and design tutorials for users of all levels... .

Quote: In Configuring Drivers:
  • Xorg version change can mean, either need for changes in source code of graphic driver, or no change at all. Compiling existing driver in this case doesn't help. ...

This is about how much I can help. I know how it works in general, just to be able to select proper action when driver doesn't load. For more than that openSUSE has real experts.

Quote: Article is about graphic subsystem, and there is much more drivers that can be configured, like audio, file system, hard disk, and many more. Consider name change to Configuring graphic card or Configuring graphic card drivers.

Actually, article title can stay as it is, including 1st sentence, and than list links to articles about other drivers and their configuration, audio, sound etc. The rest of current article should be copied to new article Configuring graphic card.

Quote: Note that I didn't use capitalization as described in the openSUSE Style Guide. It is not used on Wikipedia, where people thought much longer and harder what is appropriate, than we ever will, so there is no reason not to accept their style. The openSUSE Style Guide is old and in need of serious rework, some stuff is still valid, some has to be changed, much has to be added, so it is not really hard set of rules anymore.

We have to start writing instructions and descriptions how to author on this wiki. A lot of the stuff we can reuse from the Wikipedia. My problem is that I don't have time for all I would like to do. For instace this answer and few posts on the openSUSE mail lists consumed this evening. I will probably upload few KDE4 snapshots for the end, and that's it.

Quote: I just wanted to thank you for your comments about the Configuring Drivers page. The feedback is great appreciated and really helps me learn from more experienced users such as yourself. I've had no formal training with OpenSUSE or graphics processing, and most of the information that I have written has been derived from issues that I have faced and have learned to work with.

I don't have any formal training in writing documentation, but we all learn from each other.

My attention was attracted by overall layout of your articles, nice and orderly. Configuring graphic card would be the part that is missing in ATI and Nvidia articles, that are starting with assumption that user knows what means graphic driver and that is possible to configure it. That is the very important value of your article. Your way with explanation of basics first, is really helpful to create "glue articles" that put similar topics under one roof.
