I'm 26 years old, Italian (but now living in the U.S.) and currently I am a PhD student at Florida State University. I also work as a researcher and teacher in Computer Science Department of Florida State University. I switched to Computers world not too long ago, in 2005. I have been a Windows-only user until, on a hot boring summer day of 2005, I tried SuSE (9.2 at that time).. just to kill the time and get some "fun"... And immediately I literally fell in love with Linux. Right after my master Degree in Biomedical Engineering, I changed my field to Computer Science, and I would have never done this if I had not started getting fond with Computers world, thanks to Linux.
I am insanely maniac with Sports, along with Computers. Couldn't spend one day with no computers or with no sports!
On the right here, a shot showing how hard i use to work on my opensuse lappy! Who ever said we need to stand up while typing :D
I happened to use several different distros for work but Opensuse remains by far my favorite.
I have had the chance and luck of working as a moderator in the staff of Suselinuxsupport.de for 3 years and now in Opensuse-Forums team. Being into the Linux Community has been wonderful, and not only to learn more about computers... In the past three years I have changed 4 countries and 2 continents, and the Linux Community has been one of the very few stable references, constantly "close" even if everyone is far away from the others. The amazing people I had the opportunity to know inside Opensuse Community have been like a life saver to me many times, especially in the tough moments that I had to "start my life from scratch" once again, in a new country with no one single known person around. Linux ain't just an OS! :)
My PhD focuses on Distributed Systems Security and Security Protocols for RFIDs (Radio Frequency Identifier Devices). I am dealing a lot with Electronics and Maths... life is a b*tch sometimes! i moved from Biomedical Engineering to Computer Science, and ended up working in Electronic Engineering and Crypto-Maths! :)
My favorite programming languages: C - Bash
A few KDE applications I wrote (just for the fun of writing silly and useless code!)
My "People-of-opensuse" interview, February 22nd 2008.
