About Me
Hi, my name is Jeff Shantz. I've recently completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. I'm now about to start my M.Sc. at the same university, doing research in one or more of the domains of distributed systems, virtualization, and autonomic computing.
I have five years of experience in industry, and most recently spent a 16 month internship working with IBM Canada at the Toronto Software Lab in Markham, Ontario. At IBM, I got to work heavily with SLES/SLED 9 and 10, and have been a SUSE convert ever since.
I've been selected by the openSUSE project to work on the YaST Education Module as part of the Google Summer of Code 2009. I'm very much looking forward to making this contribution as I have been an avid user of openSUSE for several years, and it's time to give back.
I live in London, Ontario, Canada, with my wife of 1 year, and our dog Maggie. My web log can be found here.
My contributions to date:
- July 9, 2009: Submitted a patch for a bug I found in yast2-python-bindings
- Summer 2009: Currently working on the YaST Education module
