From openSUSE

Image:JosefAssad00.pngOpen source advocate since 2000, I co-founded the Egyptian LUG. I'm probably the only guy you'll meet who has been Assistant Marketing Director and uses mutt. You won't meet many half Danish half Egyptian people either. UWC alumnus, Grameen Foundation alumnus. Helped to start up the Arab World's first open source ICT4D consultancy, and consistently unable to write python without it becoming procedural code.

Here's a list of things I'm currently doing in the context of openSUSE:

  1. Building a repo for under-regarded packages
  2. Working on easier Build Service documentation
  3. Bug reporting

And a list of things I plan to do:

  1. Evangelism! Come ye come ye, to the warm heath of openSUSE and Linux!
  2. The YaST survey shamed me into putting a todo item on my list for contributing. Good place to write some code.
  3. Keep on providing what support I can through IRC and the mailing lists
  4. Write a little python script to benchmark the activity levels of the plethora of openSUSE mailing lists (I get curious. A lot.)
  5. Another python script to benchmark package freshness across current releases of key distros
  6. Improve this page
