Yep, that's me alright... ugly mug and all. ;)
I'm a self taught Linux geek, and I like to help others learn about Linux and the benefits of this operating system. I started playing with Linux in late 1999 and before I knew it, it was the only OS I was using. In 2003 I started a Linux forum, http://usalug.org ,not an expert at the time by any means, but I had been doing some web design with Linux and wanted a new project, something that would give back if only a little to the Linux community. Now with thousands of visitors every month, I know some of the information has proved helpful to those new to Linux, and that's a great feeling.
I've actually started several Linux oriented websites. http://bashscripts.org (guess what that's all about ... :) ) http://bbips.org and the newest addition to my growing collection of domains, http://opensuse.us !
Why start http://opensuse.us? Where I work, I have converted all of our office computers to (you guessed it) SUSE Linux, and I wanted to give back a bit to the SUSE community. The website is run by members of usalug.org, and even if it isn't used by millions, the info will be picked up by google and help provide quick answers to questions asked by those looking for answers. Hey, every little bit helps right ? :)
I'm in the process of advancing my bash scripting skills, who knows, maybe i'll actually get to those c,c++, and java books eventually... for now, I know enough about those languages to screw things up pretty good :) From the looks of my bookshelves, i'd say I have enough light reading to last a lifetime... well, almost.
I've written a few bashscripts that I posted for people to see here: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/author/3075.html I don't promise that they will be of any use, but hey, I'm ALWAYS learning something new ;) Guess I'd better get back to reading now.
