Introduction into Usability

Usability
Usabiltiy describes, if a product, a software or a website is user friendly. According to the norm DIN EN ISO 9241 soemthing is user friendly when it is

• efficient to use—it takes less time to accomplish a particular task
• effective
• satisfying to use

Some methods to achieve this goal are a heuristic evalution or a usability test in a usability lab. See also: the website usability-knowhow.de
Usability 101: Introduction to Usability by Jakob Nielsen - note that Nielsen's definition of usability differs from the definition provided by the ISO in the ISO/EN 9241
