Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • summaries (e.g. hardware)
  • clear navigation through listing of installation steps
  • easy availability of help text on left w/ button click

Cons:

  • long static "blue screen" after the user chooses to install openSUSE 10.2
  • unselected radio buttons at select desktop and uncertainty for the non-technical user what this is all about
  • decision “boot hard disc” or “installation” after reboot is confusing for a non-technical user
  • many secondary pop-ups
  • many inputs required
  • install isn't during a live session, so nothing to do during the install other than stare at the slideshow
  • help text isn't clear for new users
