IT8212 driver request
I don't know whether how to add this request to the driver wishlist, so I'll do it here; hoping someone can help. I have an ITE ATA RAID chip integrated in my motherboard. To be precise: the ITE Tech IT8212F.
Linux drivers have been released for Linux kernel 2.6, but one has to compile it himself: a bit problematic for a newbie like I. Therefore I'd like to see the driver for this chip included in the next version of Suse. Not just for me, but for a lot of other people (mostly noobs), who have the same chip.
Thanks

What is done with the wishlist?
Nice for anybody to be able to enter wishlist items: But what about the process of what is being done about them. I haven't found a voting mechanism, there is no feedback on either what it takes to get a wishlist item into the distro, nor is there feedback whether it is coming, or whether it is decided that the item will not ever make it into the distro.
Is the only way to find out to keep on downloading 10.1 or future beta's, to see for yourself whether your item made it in? That would really be cumbersome.
Matrox Parhelia driver
Like another poster, I don't know how to submit comments for the driver wishlist, so I'm doing it here. I'd like to suggest adding Matrox Parhelia drivers in to the 10.1 release since it's been a real headache getting these working in SUSE 10.0.
The Matrox site's Linux install script (as at version 1.4.3) is broken, but it seems that Alexander Griesser is keeping the development very much alive at http://www.tuxx-home.at/
The latest release of his driver package builds and works like a charm under SUSE 10.0 and fully supports OpenGL acceleration in addition to all Parhelia supported modes.
This is a big improvement on the default VESA framebuffer driver which has no OpenGL hardware support nor will it support the higher resolutiuons and colour depths. The SUSE hardware probe does actually detect the Parhelia, defaulting to the VESA driver, so it should be a fairly trivial task to add the Parhelia driver package in at 10.1
Nb. The Parhelia drivers are also designed to fully support the Matrox P650 and P750 graphics cards.

Adding Partition table save/restore to yast
Recently the partition table of my principle disk was destroyed. (I think by growisofs, but everyone I know thinks this is impossible. Yet, I was working with growisofs just before the partition table was destroyed) I had written a copy of the MBR to a different disk (I think by ¨dd if=/dev/hda of=/somedirectory/buMBR count=1¨), and restored it again with the dd command. Shortly after Yast complained that the MBR was improperly formatted, and that it should have been written by ¨can´t remember¨
My question: could a partitiontable-backup be added to yast, and could a restore feature be added to the recovery-utilities?
Think this is a miss in SuSE, and that adding it would be great.
Thank you
