Talk:UX/Partitioner
From openSUSE
< Talk:UX
Things to remember from discussion on opensuse-ux:
- perserve Windows partition
- estimate SWAP by multiplying RAM with 2x
- Partitioning during installation
(x) I want to shrink Windows installation and use the free space
for openSUSE installation
( ) I want to use all disks for openSUSE system
...
( ) I want to run an expert partitioner
I think there is still an issue that needs fixing: Simplifying the partitioning interface! Autopartitioner doesn't work for everyone, and with the system just text-based, it can be cumbersome and complicated to manage for someone with even some computer experience. I think look at Gparted, or Red Hat's, or Mandriva's (which I think is the best of all partitioners), they represent the disk as a graphical block with sections in them. That's what SUSE should do, IMHO. Kdupuy9 02:11, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
