Talk:Open-iSCSI and SUSE Linux

From openSUSE

Applying the patch fails, but maybe that is because the open-iscsi code is newer and no longer requires the patch.

I tried compiling open-iscsi, but I get the UNSUPPORTED KERNEL message. Looking at the note for UNSUPPORTED KERNEL, There is no Makefile in /lib/modules/2.6.16.13-4-smp/build/ so is that the correct path for the Makefile?

Ok, so I just read the open-iscsi README and found how to get around the UNSUPPORT KERNEL.

I tried to work with the guide but it failled on several occasions, 1- first of all the quick patch to run prior to compiling fails claiming that its filled with rubbish 2- after successfully compiling open-iscsi, and performing the post "rc script patching", the iscsi failled to start because the ib_iser module is missing, I looked up the kernel/driver/... path and it was not where it was supposed to be (/drivers/infiniband/ulp/iser) hence, it did not get compiled and not usable ive been working with: suse 10.1 kernel linux-2.6.16.21-0.25 svn fetched open-iscsi updated on NOV 8 2006
