Talk:Network Installation Source

From openSUSE

Tried to execute this for the 9.3 release, but it isn't working.

PS never knew plains were 'sailing' LOL

Ricky: Not working for me neither with 10b3:

-There is no SLP installation options in linuxrc.

-The netinst.iso is only 10MB.

Harry:

- There's something missing in the documentation: 1. SLP: the correct line should be:

service:install.suse:ftp://10.0.0.150/suse10.0,en,65535

2. now SLP is working, but the installation fails at the software selection saying that it cannot read the package data from installation source :-(

Stefan:

I had to do ln -s cd1/suse suse and ln -s yast2 yast before the installation. Without that I got an error 'ERROR: no proposal' on the softwareselection page.

Alexander: The SLP Information is missing a tailing slash, therefore my 10.1 System wasn't able to locate the installation source. A correct example for a slp registration would be:

 service:install.suse:ftp://ftp.example.com/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/,en,65535
 description SL-10.1

As soon I did some more testing and even someone affirms this, I'll edit the page.. --Uranellus 23:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Note: This isn't correct, the problem was related to Konqueror, which wouldn't get the path right. If you follow the current documentation all works fine. So if you want to see the installation source in Konqueror's service:/ part, you need the trailing slash, if you just care about YaST nevermind.--Uranellus 23:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
