Talk:NVidia framebuffer console HOWTO

From openSUSE

""" Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Add to Section "Device" the following line:

   Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT"

Now reboot. """

On my system, after this change, I ended op with a non funtioning X. The monitor only displayed a blank screen, after the reboot. I had to make a ssh connection from another PC to remove this setting, to get back to a working X...

The advice was removed. Setting monitor manually to generic type will, in todays systems, make X server to fail as it will not find any usable graphic mode.
Problem is probably in conflict between some nvidia graphic drivers and nvidia framebuffer kernel module. Please subscribe to opensuse@opensuse.org mail list as described on Communicate page, and post your problem there. --Rajko M 12:36, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
