Talk:INSTALL Internet
From openSUSE
Why is the 10.1 repository being used? Is that a typo or there isnt one?

Error prone install
The latest install seems to have a number of packages that fail to resolve, and errors during install, including glibc-lib being unable to run a script. Naturally these need to be checked prior to distribution. Additionally, long network installs *will*, like it or not, be done unattended so prompts for Retry, Abort, Ignore are inappropriate, the installer needs to continue to retry automatically.
- On new release day (12-7-2006) and few days after is not good to run network installation as FTP servers are under heavy load and one can experience frequent timeouts, and questions Retry, Abort, Ignore. To set installer to try automatically is not good at the that moment as it increases load on servers that already have to deal with a lot of traffic. The advice is to download iso file(s) and install from hard disk like Installation without CD and few more in Portal/OpenSUSE_Installation. --Rajko M 01:35, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
A major oversight. You give no information on HOW to find the IP address.

Instructions did not work as posted.
I had to select FTP, not HTTP, in order to complete installation. YMMV.
Partitioning
There needs to be a partitioning setup for Internet Installations. It has to have a place to install files and there isn't a way to CTRL-ALT-F1 to go to console and use mkfs and mkswap.
Specify repo at boot prompt
I think it's possible to specify the repository to install from on the bootprompt. Just add install=http://repo.server/path/to/repo
This used to work for 10.3. Still testing 11. --Arnaudloonstra 08:45, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
