From openSUSE

Using Sony VGN-FZ38M. Cannot see sonypi installed, cannot use the function keys or spicctrl packages.

Keep getting the error message "/dev/sonypi: No such device"

Its a bit rubbish frankly...

function keys do NOT work, display does NOT reduce brightness (though /proc/acpi/sony/brightness value changes) when power cord is removed (drops from 8 to 4 and resets to 8 when power is restored).

Most annoying thing on opensuse is poor support of power management and things related to monitors. Suspend to RAM does not work at all. It does nothing. Suspend to disk is even worse. It sometimes work - sometimes. Sometimes it hangs. So I don't use it at all. Windows suspend features are way better.

I have Sony docking station. It is not supported at all. If I want to remove notebook from docking station, I have to switch off the notebook, otherwise, there is a chance, that notebook freezes and I will need to remove battery to be able to reboot. Problem seems to be in docking stations internal Ethernet card. I don't use Ethernet at home and I'm able to use docking station here, so I suppose the problem is there.

And back to monitors. It is really pain to use notebook with several different monitors. There is button to select which monitor I want to use (internal/DVI/analog). The only way is manual work with nvidia-settings.

Brightness control also does not work.

Opensuse 10.3, latest updates.
