Talk:Frontpage redesign

From openSUSE

Now there is another thing which I would like too add I am just a new user who recently came to know about Linux and I absolutely donot know how to use it and I want that on the front page there may be a collection of vedios or guide to make new user fimiliar with linux and make their transition easy toward linux how to start and were to get softwares codecs etc............

I double this request! IMHO we need prominent linked screenshots and a "desktop" tour. The Ubuntu website is a good place to get inspiration. :-)

openSUSE 11 has succeeded in becoming one of the best (if not THE best) distros around, but the website is too returning-user-centric. It should reflect much more the needs of new, interested users. Therefore, we do not need to overthrow the existing design, but we need to add some informations more popular, such as screenshots, a "what can i do with openSUSE? -> the text on the boxed version is a good text to show here" section and a really visually compelling artwork on the wiki-frontpage. A "user-screenshots" section would also be nice. Spread the word how SEXY openSUSE can look.

Last but not least: The frontpage (software / wiki / buildservice) needs explanation what a wiki is all about. Maybe we should replace the term "wiki" by "information" or "community". My mother wouldn't know what a wiki is. ;-)

To whom can I turn with my suggestions?
